This was the 2nd raspberry PI project I did (the first was xbmc on Raspberry PI).
So decide what type of Internet radio you want to build.
Recipe for success (and nice affiliate links to boot): 🙂
Raspberry Pi 3 Model B 1.2 GHz Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A53 Motherboard – Green
SanDisk Ultra Imaging 8 GB microSDHC Memory Card plus SD Adapter up to 48 MB/s, Class 10
Raspberry Pi Official Universal Power Supply Unit
Optional 64GB USB stick (the internet radio can play any music on the stick also)
SanDisk SDCZ43-064G-G46 Ultra Fit USB Flash Drive, USB 3.0, 64 GB
All credit for this project goes to Bob Rathbone who documented it all in far more detail than I could ever do and you can find his website here
I’m using it with my Soundscience QSB USB speakers and they sound fantastic (dont forget to set max_usb_cureent=1 in /boot/config.txt if doing this)
SoundScience QSB – 30W USB Desktop Speakers with NXT DyadUSB Technology Rated 5/5 by What HiFi
