Multi Room Audio For A Friend

A friend of mine liked my multi room audio setup. He has just bought a new house an the previous owner removed all the fancy multi room audio equipment including the in ceiling speakers. So my friend was left with a bunch of empty speaker grills and wires back to a central cupboard.

He asked me if I would help setup a system for him and it seemed like an opportunity that was to good to miss so we did the following (he had 5 rooms so we bought 5 of everything)

Recipe for success (if you buy please use my affiliate link as I get a few pennies from each order):

5 LEPY 2024A Plus Amplifiers

5 Raspberry Pi 3 Model B 1.2 GHz Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A53 Motherboard – Green

5 SanDisk Ultra Imaging 8 GB microSDHC Memory Card plus SD Adapter up to 48 MB/s, Class 10

5 Raspberry Pi Official Universal Power Supply Unit

5 High quality 50cm audio leads from ebay.

5 Raspberry Pi cases from ebay (they are much cheaper than amazon)

He purchased 5 sets of Bose 32 Ceiling speakers from ebay to fix in to the existing holes he had in the ceiling.

Cost per room ((excluding speakers)- around £65

Satisfaction level: Priceless 🙂

We used the same logitecth music server software for raspberry pi (covered in another blog) as we did for my own system. He now has a 5 room multi room audio system which he can control from his phone or Ipad.
